LOOK ANOTHER LIBERAL ON A MAC – HOW FUCKING IRONIC! :)

Joining the rebelling to fight the dark side.. Or, there’s more than alt-tab?

In lol, Random, technology on Mar/28/2008 at 01:56.17

By rebellion I mean mac, and dark side I mean Windows/PC. A few weeks ago I picked up a brand new MacBook from the mac store at twelve oaks mall in Novi, MI. Just entering the place was fun. Thirty or Forty people just messing around, completely O-faced and repeating my former favorite MMORPG acronym WoW! These things are truly amazing machines, and I will never go back to my old ways.

Examples

-Managing documents, using the spaces program I navigate in between my various notes for various classes with a simple hotkey. Instantly, my document switches windows/desktops, up to 16 of them, with a nice small interface in the middle of my screen to help me select which exactly I want to switch to. Which compared to Windows, isn’t a big deal, but its smoother and aesthetically nicer.

-Computer speed, its only 2.1ghz/120gb HD/1gb RAM, but damn, its faster then my old 3ghz 2gb RAM desktop, nothing lags, I can have multiple high memory programs – photoshop, dreamweaver and my mail client, while listening to iTunes radio stream runs perfect.

-OS/Interface, nothing compares. I’ve used Windows since, well, I don’t really remember, but it was the version or two before Windows95 and WoW! Not even Vista can touch this.

-Applications, amazing, simply amazing. Every program I need came preloaded (except my office suite) with their own version of anything I needed. Its search tool nearly memorizes your HD, finds everything instantly, and even picks up keywords and phrases out of documents, so if you can’t remember the filename, it finds it for you. No more searching for folders, all my apps are in one folder. No more useless I’ll never need to see – ya know those .dll and .sys files that clutter up tons of your folders? Or just anything that doesn’t pertain directly to you using the program? Yeah, their not there. I didn’t even use one of those “Mac for Dummies” books. Frankly, I don’t think anyone needs to if you have a stable broadband connection. Everything is self explanatory. Use the finder or spotlight to find things, iWhateveryouneedtodo to do whatever you need to do and the rest you can figure out. I searched for some keyboard shortcuts no in the users manual and thats all I really had trouble, actually not trouble, that is the only thing I couldn’t think of from using a PC. There’s more than alt-tab?-Complaints, nothing to do with it in general. On the web I am pissed there are not many torrents for macs, but thats really it. I paid for the word/excel programs by mac (pages/numbers) and snagged a sweet mouse and I’m happy. Oh wait, there isn’t a free wordpress compatible blogging application, yet. So, I’ll end up paying $17 for a third party program.

-Memories of my PC.

McCain’s gotta be loving this..

Florida and Michigan’s delegates may be out of luck. The state leaders won’t pay for a re-vote even though it is their own bloody fault, so the decision heads back to the Howard Dean at the DNC to figure out this mess.

Meanwhile, Obama gave a speech on Rev. Jeremiah Wright and the racial tensions that have been occurring over the years. He didn’t disown Wright, which shows his loyalty to those over the years.
He spoke of his white grandmother giving rude remarks about blacks, which made him cringe, but he didn’t denounce her either. Once again showing loyalty, only now to family.

There is no way I could say that I totally agree with Wright’s speeches but there are a few things that he mentioned in his rants that kinda made my head nod to acknowledge a few facts and hear some things are nearly taboo in society.

But why is the whole world after Obama just because someone he associates is controversial? Nixon himself said that if you believe in something do deeply it is impossible not to be controversial. Now I may not be quoting the best person at the moment but hey, I tried :P

Why don’t they go after him on policy or something that matters. I know before the convention the Rezko scandals will resurface and maybe even the tax information from the Clintons would show up? Who knows. I just have to hand it to the GOP.

Let McCain sit back and take in the photo-ops, let the left eat away at itself and destroy their chances for the independent votes. /sigh

Seriously, WTF is wrong with America..

In Foreign Policy, Opinion, Policy, Politics on Mar/19/2008 at 01:17.39

I sit here clicking links off drudge and yahoo news, looking for some sort of positive news to share with anyone whom reads this, just to vent, or just for some reason I feel the need to give a opinion on something with my limited knowledge.

What I find is more bad news, more terrible things, more people using the same old euphemistic bullshit. More excuses, no real answers, no real news, just the same old opinionated analysis that I am sick of reading.

Bush today was quoted in saying he has no doubts about launching the unpopular war in Iraq despite the “high cost in lives and treasure,” arguing that retreat now would embolden Iran and provide al-Qaida with money for weapons of mass destruction to attack the United States.

Well Mr. Bush, another great piece of insight from your usual rhetoric battle chest. We’re in Iraq until we win. How do we win? A question I asked in my first post on this blog and despite no one really addressing the question, this will war will not end until until you have achieved 2 things. One, in which we have already succeeded in, our world reputation being completely shot and two either until we officially cannot send any more money over or until you leave office.

Actually, either way, we’re not leaving. Democrats have changed their position from the “Enders of the War” to the “People who will end the war kinda soon, as long as few things are achieved and we don’t look bad”. Well neither can be met.

Listening to Jay Diamond host the Alan Colmes show on FOX News talk he brought up a point I never thought of. He stated that the next president should dig up all the secrets this administration has concealed, reveal them to the world and apologize for the war mongering imperialism we have continued to act on since entering this godforsaken place. Before we came to Iraq, IED’s, Car bombings and suicide bombers did attack the people, but not at this rate. Every-fucking-day, all I see is “Great security gains, but no Political reconciliation”, 9 more Iraqi’s die from a mentally handicapped person in a wheelchair used as a explosive device. What else are we going to put up with? I believe it was the Associated Press (AP) whom reported that 54% of the US people agree we are doing good in Iraq. I do not think this is a accurate representation of the mindset of the people of this great country. We know we are just saving face in Iraq. This war is impossible to “win”. There will always be danger in the middle east, there has been since time and morium, yet Bush & Co. believe we can be the godsends to come in rid the area of violence.
As soon as Bush posted his “Mission accomplished” sign behind one of our great destroyers, the gods descended upon our grand leader with holy might, filling him with the power to fix all of the problems in the various cultures. They peoples all rejoiced in peace and held hands, all problems solved, no more religious vendetta’s and all terrorist groups disbanded and become altruists. We broke bread and shared a table with all who has been healed.

Except that didn’t happen. We got a mugshot of a criminal president wearing a fighter pilot uniform. Washington and Eisenhower refused to wear the military uniform based on common decency. When they became president, they were no longer soldiers of our great nation, but the political leader. They knew this, yet Bush didn’t. Maybe it’s because of his less then stellar grades at Yale. Who knows.

/sigh

Another rant written, more energy expunged on something that is useless to write except for my own personal self-edification or just to fucking rant. I, amongst millions are so sick of this damn war and we still haven’t been given a cogent premise that hasn’t been proven fallacious after being investigated.

Okay. Enough “America bashing”. Anymore and Sean Hannity will have to make another bumper sticker to ruin the country even further.

The Supreme Court is ruling properly in stating that Americans have the right to bear arms. We do, if you don’t believe so, too bad. Now, am I saying everyone including criminals, clinical psychopaths do? No. I believe that if you fit the standards to serve Jury Duty (sadly too many do though..) you can own a gun. If you are sane, not a mass murderer who suddenly was found insane and got off, and are at least somewhat competent you can protect yourself in your dwelling. Can you carry guns on you 24/7 while you fill your gas tank or grab a bite to eat? I personally don’t support this. I believe you have the right to defend yourself at home, but not in everyday public areas. If we had stiffer penalties for those “packing heat” in public, I believe it would lead to a safer societies. There should be no reason your carrying a beretta to get groceries. But what about those “drug gang-bangers” and hooligans who could kill me at any moment. Well, there’s two issues in it self. I’ll tackle the gun issue first. Those gang bangers and hooligans would HOPEFULLY decline if stiffer laws were imposed. You can have all your guns on your property and make a fortress inside if you deem it necessary. Conversely, doesn’t this seem better then having a entire populous packing a mack-10 of .50 caliber deagle? One thing leads to another and you have bar fights blasting away at each other and it turns into a Godfather like shootout because someone stepped on another persons kicks or spilled a drink on someone.
Second, those damn drug dealers. Menaces to society. They need to be destroyed… RAWR. Ok. Lets examine this a little more without the sarcasm. People get wasted off brew and whiskey yet it is deemed legally acceptable as long as they have a DD and don’t drive. Yet smoking marijuana isn’t? A analogy Dennis Leary made in Stuff magazine a few years ago I feel is the best way to describe my position.

Alcoholics get drunk, start fights, make us regret the previous night, and make us do things we would not do if we had been sober. I feel thats a nice way of putting drunken sex and pregnancy excuses.
People who smoke the herb aka stoners, sit in their basement, get high, listen to some Led Zeppelin and Kotten Mouth Kings, eat doritos and maybe even a pizza.

But what about Reefer Madness! If you smoke weed you go insane and going on shooting rampages. No thats people mentally unstable people snapping and the rampage is the end result. You smoke a joint and you mellow out and sometimes become strangely philosophic, at least that is my experience.

Another part to add to this little argument. People who sell pot sell a variety of other hard drugs. Coke, Heroin, Extasty, and PCP to name a few. Well if weed was legalized would we be socializing with these people in the first place? Even MEDICINAL marijuana is illegal in most places and strangely legal under the strangest circumstances in other situations – vending machines in Cali ring a bell? How fast were those things robbed/vandalized?

I should really rename this blog to “News story + random tangent”, because that is what I feel I am writing. Everytime something new or whatever happens, I state what an article says and go off on my own line. But do ya blame me? According to 60minutes I believe, or another one of the primetime news shows – not sure which exactly. My generation wants to feel important, feel involved, feel like we’re doing something. But its kinda hard with healthcare costs while in college, working for shit wages, paying for student loans into the time when we conceive children.

/sigh #2

Topic of my next rant – The Expulsion of the Conservative party when the baby boomer generation has died off.

Just because you think your views are the best and the most righteous, doesn’t mean they are, and SPECIFICALLY doesn’t mean someone can legislate those views for all. God – I mean Astral Non-secular omnipotent being, what the fuck were you people thinking.

$107/barrel for crude

In Uncategorized on Mar/10/2008 at 10:44.33

Throughout the past few months oil has tipped over $100/barrel and just recently closed over $100/barrel. Today OPEC Chairman reports crude will remain at over $100/barrel for the remainder of the year. The supposed reasoning for this is related to the Chavez v. ExxonMobil, “geopolitical tension” and the “Iran Nuclear Crisis”.

Despite this usual news I just don’t want to hear. I have to take a step back and look at a few factors.

 1. We went into Iraq for ever-changing premises; one being to secure oil. Yet it has increase 5-fold since 2001.
 2. Exxon, BP and Chevron are fighting with Chavez because he’s nationalizing his countries oil reserves, will it help THEIR country? Probably, does it hurt business? PROBABLY. I’m not going to speculate, so I’ll just have to see how this unravels.
 3. Iran Nuclear crisis – Ok, knowing what Ahmadinejad is thinkin, its like trying to guess how many dots are on a random sized basketball. He could be peaceful and use their nuke materials from Russia for a energy source or he could “wipe Israel off the face of the planet”, as he was quoted in saying in ’06.
 4. Geopolitical tensions? Hm..
 5. Rest – post after gym/class

Freeganism

In Opinion, Random on Mar/09/2008 at 22:41.33

Flipping through the channels while I waited for a DVD to load I happen to come across a women being interviewed on how she is a 6 figure salary earner and yet decides to get her goods from NYC’s trash cans. Just hearing that I had to keep watching. I found the interview online and posted the link and a quick excerpt about Freegans.

“..But it’s likely you’ve never seen anything like “freegans.” This
growing grassroots subculture is made of people who have decided to
live outside consumer society. Freegans say our culture’s emphasis on
buying the newest products—and throwing away perfectly fine older
things—is a waste of the world’s resources. Instead, they focus on
buying less and use only what they need. One of the main ways freegans
do this is by salvaging food and other goods from the trash.”

After I finished watching, I started my DVD and went to sleep. But it stuck with me. We are obsessed with having the next best thing as soon as it appears. We are logo-ized to have name brand clothing and have their trademark logo all over ourselves and things we own. We waste so much because we think a good has gone bad and our groceries store’s throw out anything that goes past their labeled sell date.

After grabbing a quick bite to eat a few nights ago at my local panera bread I decided to grab a few bagels for the upcoming morning. I asked for 4 and was given over a dozen. I sat there thinking, wow, thats quite generous, then realized they were bagging up hundreds of them in huge black trash bags – I wonder where they went?

Do we always have to have the freshest and best at the cost of egregious waste? We can’t find anything better to do with perfectly good food? I hate to sound cliche, but isn’t there starving kids in Africa/any random 3rd world country?

Until next time…

McCain + Bush aka Pirate and a Monkey.

YARRRR
I had to show this lovely picture that was posted on Drudge.
Bush formally endorsed McCain (wow, a right winger endorsing another.. who woulda thunk it?) which somehow can be viewed as a positive – I mean, it is a Presidential endorsement.
McCain states he’ll continue the Iraq War until we’ve won, whatever that means and has been quoted in saying he’d stay for another 100 years. Whether or not he meant it, I just want to know, how do we win in Iraq? Do the Iraqi’s have to feel free? Does their government actually have pass some policy or achieve the “political reconciliation” that seemed to be a favorite phrase amongst pro-war pundits after the Patreaus/Crocker report was reported? I seriously just want to know how do we win?
/sigh
The current events post will be made tonight after I get back from dinner – toodles!

Dear President Bush (drunken philosophy)

In Opinion on Mar/05/2008 at 02:34.44

During your tenure of office we have seen some amazing things. The absolute decline of our economy, a wealthy surplus turning into the highest deficit in our nations history, a war completely based on false premises which we are still involved in to save face principally, the utter devaluing of our nations once highly valued currency, complete violation of our civil rights, the disregard for our pursuit of happiness via anti-gay marriage laws and complete political polarization of our country dividing at the hilt not seen since the Vietnam war.

I simply question your motives, sir. 9/11 happened and the world mourned our losses and you turned it into the worst possible scenario ever envisioned. We had world sympathy and now the world despises us from our foreign policy. No other country will step into Iraq in fear of a likewise situation in their own country – or the fact they benefit from it monetarily.
Russian, Chinese, Japanese and European economies are surpassing us because of our limitless spending in the War and not enough money spent at home, where it belongs. Our immigration policy has created radical groups like the minute men. Our jobs are leaving the country (along with profits that your own VP reaps – where’s Halliburton these days? Guam). We have our tech jobs booming, but manufacturing seems to be almost all but gone. You gave tax breaks to the rich and implied they were for the middle class, yet why so many of our baby boomers not able to afford health insurance and are suffering from our industries outsourcing?

Your conservative worshippers are still used by the Republican party, getting a anti-abortion Supreme Court judge every now and then while negating the true issues abroad. Some how they recently ruled against a ACLU suit filed against the wireless wiretapping policy you infected our country with, in clear violation of our privacy rights, but with their conservative views, its not the least bit surprising.

The conservative party will hopefully be dissolved in the coming years and no one has explained how they are not for “Big Government” when they want the government to infuse their beliefs on us instead of letting us make our own choices. But this is a quandary just like how the liberal party was created by Republicans. But that’s just useless history data that would never impose itself these days – along with immigration policy.

My question for you sir, is this. With you overseas trying to create peace in the middle east with the Palestinians and Israelis (convenient fucking timing), your trip to Africa getting actual public praise instead of the boo’s and egg’s thrown at your like your 2000 Oath of Office that you still deserve. What legacy do you think historians will write about you. Actually, what do you think biographers will write about you, because as Emerson put

“There is no History, only Biography”.

How will you be remembered. Will it be for your civil rights violations and fear mongering not seen since the Japanese and Italian interment camps in the World Wars? Or the infamous Red Scare which I think directly correlates with this “terrorist epidemic”.

I don’t know who is going to see this, but I wish some would so maybe some questions could be answered.

And two more things. Who the fuck put the color pink in as a terrorist warning level. What, were you trying to scare off terrorists with pretty pink ponies and those nice warning signs that no one knows the fuck it means at airports? Secondly, you invaded Iraq, but left no definitive border policy. So the county is wide open but we’re killing terrorists? Good fucking job.
